Standing next to you, staring into
The touch tank at the aquarium
Its funny how someone thought
This would be fun
We walked out through the gift shop
It says “sexy” on the keychain
I stole for you
We didn’t stop for the photo op
You said you would if I wanted to
Like a thing in a tank
I got something looking at me
I can’t quite name
It's a sign I’ve got to squint to see
Know the shape of the letters
But I can’t read
So I take my little walks
Feeling found, feeling lost
Pretending I got somewhere to go
While the guys in the truck
Stare at my nipples
When its good its good
When its bad you know how it goes
You give me fear and doubt
You give me something to cry about
How special would it be
To have someone that loves me
How special would it be to have someone
To touch me

Touch Tank is about feeling lonely. It’s about feeling unseen in love but unhappy with unwanted attention from others. These were things that came up during a trip to the aquarium with an ex boyfriend. I soon found that the collaborative production of the song became an antidote to those lonely feelings. I set a simple goal: have fun making something with friends. Together, Alex and I constructed the music video set in my apartment and papier-mached creepy hands on the floor one night. My friend Julia made me an outfit from a sheet we found at the thrift store we work in. Sonically, it’s the first time my bandmate Lucas Knapp and I collaborated on a recording. It marks a shift in the way I make music and I feel excited to continue leaning on the people I love.
